The image of a Les Paul plugged into a Marshall stack represents the most iconic of classic rock representation. The “electric guitar more guitar than any other”, by shape and suggestion, the Les Paul brings extraordinary innovations such as the first double coil pickups that immediately provided warmth, definition and power. It was a revolution even if it was created a little after Leo Fender’s first solid body. An instrument that has not shown any signs of going out of fashion for decades, it was chosen to write pieces of rock history by artists like Gary Moore, Zakk Wylde, Slash, Bob Marley, Jimmy Page and an endless list of others. Even his younger sister “SG” has inextricably influenced the image and playing of artists such as Angus Young of AC/DC, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath and Robby Krieger of The Doors, just to name a few.
